20 Days To Go - The Countdown Begins

Posted by Mad Blogger

There is exactly twenty more days for my big day – my wedding. Well, time passes bye so quickly doesn’t it? When I have a look at my calendar I realize that its been over two months since I have got engaged. At that point of time, I thought there is sufficient time for everything to be done. And wrooommmm!!! Time just flew bye. And now I am looking at the last few days of me being a bachelor – twenty days to be precise. This is the first wedding in the family; and hence it’s bound to have a bit of fun as well. There would be lots of things happening in the next twenty days leading up to the wedding. I have decided to write down a blow-by-blow account of the events these days, so that some time in the future I can look into these posts and recollect these days.

I am getting ready to move to my new place. I had given the cheques as part of the advance to my new owner. He said that he would clean up the entire house and hand over the keys some time in the evening today. Now I need to go to his place and officially take that house for me to stay. With every shifting, there is always this perennial issue of packing up things. The search for cartons and bags to shift the entire thing is still in full swing; though there have been no palpable results for the same. No matter what, I need to start packing up things tonight itself. When I came into my current place of stay two years back, I remember that I had literally nothing to take in. My entire stuff could have been contained in three or four bags. Now that is not the case. The uninhibited spending on stuff that I did in the past couple of years made sure that I would require at least half a dozen bags for just the clothing and books – the two items that I have collected in shameless grandeur over the last couple of years. Add to that the additional cooking accessories, tables, chairs, bean bags and bed that I have accumulated over the last couple of years makes sure that I would require at least a tempo traveler for shifting the entire thing.

The bed is the one that gives me the biggest problem. It’s a big one – the manufacturers called it as queen size. I bought that bed thinking of just the comfort part of sleeping in it every night. Little did I recognize at that point of time that I will have to come across enormous difficulties when I shift it from the second floor of my current apartment [which has narrow steps connecting floors] to the second floor of my new place [thankfully the steps are a bit more wider there]. This is going to be one heck of a problem. There is a way out though. When I bought this bed, the shop keeper had told me that this coat could be dismantled into several pieces and can be reconstructed back to the coat. Well, I guess its time to see if the shop keeper had told me the truth or not. In the morning today, I had a close inspection of the coat, and found that all the parts of that coat are connected by an intricate network of nuts and bolts. What is required is a proper debug on how I can untangle the entire network. Action item for the evening I guess. If I am not able to untangle it myself, I might as well have to call upon some “Movers & Packers” to shift. The coat in a single piece can’t be shifted all by me.

Its natural to wonder how this entire problem is related to my wedding – the answer is very simple. If my marriage was not there, I wouldn’t have had to shift my house. If I were not to shift my house, I wouldn’t have had the troubles of burning my head on how to untangle a network of nuts and bolts. Everything seems interconnected… doesn’t it??

haha.. talk about perspective. when u look at it that way, everything in life is interconnected.

and yes, it's always that way. when u start off living by urself in a new place, there's almost no luggage. awhile of living there and bam! u dont have space to move about. shifting is really a pain! u have my deepest sympathies...
